Artist Statement

I have been painting professionally since 2005. I attended the Ontario College of Art , Fine Art Department, while raising and supporting my two children as a single mother.

After moving  to the Collingwood area in 2004 I was immediately drawn to the beauty and power of the landscape. I do not limit myself to landscape painting and enjoy still life and portraiture as well as teaching painting and drawing but landscape painting seems to dominate my portfolio.

I paint mostly in the studio, allowing memory to inform and distill the scene. It is important to me to share the power of the moment, the emotional impact, the feeling of being there. I love the textures, colour, light and motion of the landscape.  Exploration and experimentation are vital in my evolving journey as an artist.
