Artist Statement

After moving  to the Collingwood area in 2004 I was immediately drawn to the beauty and power of the landscape. I do not limit myself to landscape painting and enjoy still life and portraiture as well as teaching painting and drawing but landscape painting seems to dominate my portfolio.

I paint mostly in the studio, allowing memory to inform and distill the scene. It is important to me to share the power of the moment, the emotional impact, the feeling of being there. I love the textures, colour, light and motion of the landscape.  Exploration and experimentation are vital in my evolving  journey as an artist.
